Staff for whom Nuffield College is their main employer can refer to the Policies and Pay Scales section of the HR page for parental leave policies (including adoption leave, maternity, paternity and shared parental leave).

Staff for whom the University of Oxford is their main employer can find relevant policies here, or discuss with their Department.

Nuffield College participates in the University of Oxford sponsored places scheme which enables us to nominate staff or students for a priority place on the nursery waiting list. This scheme allocates a place on the waiting list and does not guarantee a place at a specific or indeed any nursery within the University. More information can be found in the Childcare: Priority Place on the Nursery Waiting List Polic and from the HR Department.

If you are new to Oxford and/or to the UK, you may find the information on Childcare and Schooling provided by the University Welcome Service to be useful.

All Nuffield staff (and their dependants over sixteen years old) have free access to the BUPA Healthy Minds Employee Assistance Plan.

There is a 24/7 confidential telephone support line, providing advice, support and onward referrals and signposting, including to counsellors; mental health support such as online CBT; nurses and general health advice.

The plan includes access to childcare and eldercare support, such as searches and quotes for care options; care home and nursery guidance; and information about financing solutions.

Staff are eligible to join the BUPA private healthcare scheme provided by the College. The College will pay for a single membership of the scheme, but you may upgrade your membership, at your own expense, to cover your partner/spouse or your family.

As this is a work benefit you will pay tax on the subscription rates.

For more information about the private healthcare scheme, please contact the HR Department.
