You can speak with a trained College or University Harassment Advisor if you would like a confidential discussion with someone who is independent of the formal processes and procedures.

Harassment Advisors have undergone training that helps them to listen to your concerns in a supportive and non-judgemental way; clarify your options with you; and signpost you on to other agencies or support systems where appropriate.

More information about Harassment Advisors can be found in the College Harassment Policy and Procedure and on the University website.

At Nuffield, all the people below are trained as Harassment Advisors and you are welcome to contact any of them:

You may wish to speak to a Harassment Advisor outside of the College environment, in which case you can find information about and contact details for the University Harassment Advisor network online.

On this webpage you can also find contact details for identity-specific Harassment Advisors who share one of the following characteristics:

  • BAME
  • LGBT+
  • Neurodiverse
  • Disabled
  • International and/or speaks English as a second language
  • Trans and/or gender-diverse

If you have experienced sexual harassment, violence, and/or stalking you can consult the procedures and resources listed above; and there is also additional specialist support available to you.

The Oxford University Sexual Harassment and Violence Support Service is an all-in-one provision for any students regardless of age or gender who have been affected by sexual harassment, violence and/or stalking whether recent or not. Oxfordshire Sexual Health service can provide confidential advice, support and medical care including emotional support and advice; STI testing and management; HIV risk assessment and Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEPSE); Hepatitis B vaccination; emergency contraception and ongoing contraception; and pregnancy testing.

Solace is a SARC (Sexual Assault Referral Centre) based in Bicester. The Centre offers support to people of all genders and sexual orientations who have experienced rape or sexual assault either recently or in the past, and to their supporters. Solace can be contacted by phone confidentially and, if you wish, anonymously.

Sexual violence and harassment is never acceptable, and is taken extremely serious by the University of Oxford and Nuffield College.

All students are expected to contribute to Oxford’s respectful community of learning, and with this in mind, all students are expected to complete the interactive, online training: Consent for Students (even if you have previously completed another online consent course).

The course covers sexual consent, including the law, myths, and different factors which may affect someone’s understanding and experience of consent. It will also support you to talk about consent with others and provides advice on what to do if you or a friend experiences harassment or violence.

Information about the online course can be found here, and a direct link to Consent for Students training is here.
