PGT Students

You were invited to book a graduation date earlier in the academic year. You can make changes to your booking via Student Self-Service or, if you cannot access Student Self-Service, please contact Maxine Collett.

PGR Students

Soon after receiving LTS, you will receive an invitation to book a graduation ceremony. If the online system does not have any dates available for you, please contact Maxine Collett to enquire about future dates. If there are dates available for booking but you are unable to attend any of them, we may be able to assist but this is not guaranteed. We strongly encourage you to book one of the dates offered if at all possible. You can make changes to your booking via Student Self-Service or, if you cannot access Student Self-Service, please contact Maxine.

All Students

In order for the University Degree Conferrals Team and the College to remain in contact with you about your graduation, you must provide an non-Oxford email address via Student Self-Service.

General information about the graduation ceremony can be found here, and there will be a celebration in College either before or after the ceremony.

We will be in touch with details and a schedule for the graduation ceremony and the College celebration around one month prior to the ceremony date, but please note the following points:

  • You will need to rent or buy the appropriate academic dress for the ceremony. This comprises subfusc, the gown (and hood if applicable) for the degree you will be receiving, and the gown (and hood if applicable) of your current Oxford status. The gown of your current Oxford status is either the standard graduate student gown (the same as worn for matriculation and exams) or, if you already have an Oxford degree, the gown of that degree.
  • Currently, all graduands are allocated two free guest tickets for the graduation ceremony. Occasionally, some extras are available and you are welcome to express interest in an extra ticket. Please note that we will not have information about extra tickets until a few weeks before the ceremony, and if any are available they will be allocated randomly among graduands who have expressed interest. Extra tickets are rarely available at summer ceremonies and you should not make plans based on the assumption that you will have more than two guest tickets.
  • For the College celebration we are usually able to accommodate at least three guests per graduand, for which there is no charge.

Your entitlement to the full range of Oxford and Nuffield IT facilities, including your Nuffield/Oxford email address, ends on completion of your course.

Please see this page for detailed information about account access once you have completed your course.

Your Nuffield College student membership ends:

for PGT students: on 31 August or the date that your university card expires, whichever is later.

for PGR students: at the end of the month in which you receive LTS (or the next month, if you finish close to the month end).

Your files will remain on the Nuffield servers for two months after this date, before deletion. If you wish, our IT team can advise/assist you with methods of moving your files to another computer.

If you will be starting a new course or taking up employment within the university immediately following your course completion, please contact the relevant Department or College regarding your university card, email address and access to IT facilities.

Full-time PGT students retain access to their email account for three months following their university card expiry date; PGR students retain access to their email account for three months after their card is cancelled once they have received Leave to Supplicate.

You are strongly encouraged to use this time to ensure you take any steps required to transition to a new email address. For example, you may wish to set up an automatic reply informing people of your new email address, and to export mail from your Nuffield account. For further details, including the timeline for deletion of your mailbox, see this page. Please note that Nuffield IT has no control over this university process and so you must transition your email before your access expires.

PGT leavers must vacate their room/office (if applicable) and return their electronic fob to the Lodge before leaving Oxford, and by 31 August at the latest. PGR students must vacate their room/office (if applicable) and return their electronic fob to the Lodge on receipt of leave to supplicate. Please ensure you follow the emailed instructions from Claire Bunce about vacating.

When students leave Nuffield, post will not normally be forwarded and items will be returned to the sender (PGR students who have a pidge at the Nuffield Lodge may continue to receive post to it for a two-month grace period following LTS).

If an amount of money (usually £10) is deposited in your battels account, the Lodge will forward post to a notified address until the money runs out. Please contact the Finance Department and Lodge if you wish to make this arrangement.

Please complete a leavers' form so that we can keep in touch once you leave us!

Degree confirmation letters, verifications, transcripts and certificates are managed by the central Oxford University Degree Conferrals team.
