Nexus Shared (Project) mailbox access

Accessing a shared mailbox via webmail

You can access any shared (project) mailbox you have full access to, via your own webmail account.

  1. Log into https://outlook.office.com​ using your Oxford University username (format sso@OX.AC.UK) and password
  2. 'Open Another Mailbox' under your profile icon/photo
  3. Search for the mailbox you wish to view (typically by display name, such as 'Nuffield College...') where you should be presented with any mailboxes you have full access to
  4. Select and Add the mailbox required, then Open

  5. This other mailbox will open in another tab in your browser


You can also add shared mailboxes to display in the lefthand side, along with your own mailbox.
Right-click Folders to select 'Add shared folder' then search for the name of the desired mailbox. Once found, Save.

Out of Office Alerts for Shared Mailboxes

  1. Once logged into the required mailbox, go to the account Settings (cog icon) and select 'View All Outlook Settings'


  2. Select Automatic Replies then turn it on


  3. Set up your alert and remember to Save

Leaving Members with access to shared mailboxes

In the event of a member of staff or faculty leaving Nuffield, it is imperative that their access is removed from shared mailboxes at the point of leaving.
The IT department can do this on your behalf (if notified), or please email registration@it.ox.ac.uk stating the individuals and mailboxes SSO.
