Using the Broadcast Booth
The Broadcast Booth is on the first floor of D staircase (D6A).
If you have an interview (e.g. with news media or with a prospective employer), or if you need to create a podcast, please use these facilities. Please book the room via the Conference Team if you have time, but if it is an ad hoc interview, there is a good chance that the room will be free. Just let the Lodge know that you're about to use it, and get the key card from the Lodge.
You may have been sent a Zoom link for the interview. If so, follow the instructions below in our Setting up a Zoom meeting in the Broadcast Booth video below. It's very quick and easy.
After you've created the 'meeting', go along to the Broadcast Booth. Here's what you should need to know:
- Get a SALTO card from the Lodge so that you can enter the room
- (If your interview/meeting is out of hours, the Lodge could leave an envelope in your pigeon hole containing the card)
- Pull the curtains behind the door for good sound deadening qualities
- Don't move any furniture or the monitor (apart from the chair you will sit in)
- Follow the instructions in the room
(Optional!) If you are podcasting or have been asked to produce a high quality audio file to accompany the interview, there are two ways of doing this:
- Record a video on your mobile phone during the interview
Some broadcasters can take that video and obtain the audio from it. - Use the recording device in the room (recommended)
(See instructions in the room.) Start the recording just before your interview, and stop when you're finished. Bring the device, the lead, and the contact details of where you need to send the file to IT who will sort everything out for you.
